Southern Sudan
The Southern Sudan investigation began with a phone call from an International Trust that Global Investigations Group had worked with several times over the past years. The trust had a growing interest in assisting the rebuilding of Southern Sudan after the treaty was signed and a peace agreement had come to the region. The Government of Southern Sudan, (G.O.S.S.), after so many years of taking most of the damage from the war was now in a position of need in the amount of 5 billion dollars. This amount was needed to fund various infrastructure projects to rebuild the country. There was an immediate need for roads, railways and arranging for the extraction of some of their oil reserves. Consideration for the removal of landmines left from the war needed to also be dealt with and considered at all times prior to and through any construction phase.
G.I.G. was retained to travel to Dubai along with a team put together by the trust for 10 days of meetings to discuss the steps necessary to move forward with the funding of these various projects. Once negotiations were completed and the meetings came to a conclusion contractual agreements would be signed.
Following the signing of all agreements G.I.G.'s regional investigator Dr. Ramzi B. Abu Ghazaleh was dispatched out of Amman, Jordan to Khartoum and then on to Juba to investigate, verify and collect additional information for the culmination of a funding structure guaranteeing project completion while also supplying the trust with guaranteed repayment.
